The University of Twente, which at its founding in 1961 was still called the Twente Technological University of Applied Sciences, managed to distinguish itself early on by integrating technology with social sciences. In the summer of 1986 the Twente Technological University of Applied Sciences received her current name: University of Twente. In 2011 the University celebrated her 50th Dies Natalis. The University of twente offers bachelor's and master's programmes. Studying at the University of Twente means enterprising studying. Education at the University of Twente revolves around several core principles: a multidisciplinary, project-based approach, student-driven learning in which the needs of the student are the focus, and peer-based learning in which the learning environment is more natural and in which students learn from each other.
