Non-EU citizens willing to work in Lithuania must obtain a work permit.A work permit is issued to foreigners for a period of up to two years. The permit specifies a company, institution or organization employing the individual as well as the position taken.A work permit may be issued to a foreign national, if Lithuania has no professional that would meet employers requirements. An alien who applies for a high-skilled qualification job, shall be issued a decision by the Lithuanian Labour Exchange confirming its compliance with the needs of the Lithuanian labour market. A temporary residence permit to an alien who intends to work in high-skilled job (EU Blue Card) shall be issued by the Migration Department under the Ministry of Interior.
